Position Description

Title: Communications and Marketing Co-Op
Department: Communications
Reports to: Senior Manager of Communications, Vice President of Brand, Strategy and Business Development
Status: Part-time Co-Op; up to 20 hours per week


Encore Series, Inc., presenter of The Philly POPS, is seeking a part-time communications and marketing co-op. The ideal candidate would be a student majoring in communications, marketing, public relations, and/or related fields (or a recent graduate with a degree in aforementioned fields). Strong writing and editing skills required. This position provides support for the communications department, with some projects supporting the marketing department.

Working with the Senior Manager of Communications and the Vice President of Brand, Strategy and Business Development, the Communications and Marketing Co-Op will be responsible for creating drafts of communication and marketing documents, collecting data and reporting on analytics, tracking media impressions, and other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions:

• Writing first drafts of communications materials, including press releases, media advisories, and talking points
• Researching and drafting copy for POPS social media
• Attending and assisting at news interviews
• Interviewing and transcribing interviews with guest artists and musicians
• Planning and producing creative content for social and digital media
• Scheduling social media posts
• Developing and producing newsletter content
• Clipping and tracking media impressions
• Analysis of analytics for social media and media impressions
• Assisting in content creation for social media and website usage
• Drafting copy for POPS emails and advertisements
• Managing the POPS’ event calendar and public event calendar listings

Education/Position Requirements:

• Pursuing a degree in communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field
• Strong writing and editing skills are required
• Familiarity with business use of Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, and Tik Tok
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, Sharepoint)
• Video editing skills a plus
• Love of the arts and music; ability to read music a plus

Working conditions/physical demands:

Routine office environment. Some hours may be required during evenings and weekends for events.
