We’re thrilled to welcome guest vocalist Michael Cavanaugh, the charismatic performer, musician, and actor who was handpicked by Mr. Joel to play the lead in the Broadway musical Movin’ Out, as we cover heartwarming favorites like Scenes From an Italian Restaurant, Just the Way You Are, and My Life.

More

Michael Cavanaugh is a charismatic performer, musician, and actor most well-known for his piano/lead vocals in the hit Broadway musical Movin’ Out. Michael, who was handpicked by Billy Joel to star in the title role, appeared in more than 1,200 performances over three years, garnering both Grammy and Tony award nominations. Michael began playing at age seven, when his parents bought their first piano. Encouraged by family and friends, and inspired by his hero Billy Joel, Michael formed his first band at age 10 and began playing local functions, fine-tuning the craft that would become his chosen career. In January 1999, Michael received an offer that would change his life: an opportunity to play Las Vegas at the famed New York, New York Hotel and Casino, where Billy Joel joined him on stage one fateful night in February 2001. It only took two songs before Billy was convinced that he had found his new “Piano Man.” Michael began touring solo in 2005 with a show that reinterpreted the modern pop/rock songbook, and he performs worldwide with the Indianapolis Symphony and corporate, charity, and sporting events, including PGA tour events, the U.S. Open, and the Indy 500. In October 2008, he signed with Warner/ADA to distribute his first CD, In Color.
