The Philly POPS at The Met Philadelphia

The Philly POPS at The Met Philadelphia series features exciting new performances outside of the POPS’ traditional Subscription Seriesconcert and includes innovative programming with contemporary artists. These performances take full advantage of the Met Philadelphia’s state-of-the-art audio equipment and impressive stage, while paying homage to the surrounding neighborhood, which was once known for its rich musical pedigree—particularly in jazz.

Originally from Halifax, Nova Scotia, Sarah achieved international fame with her multi-platinum album Surfacing, which includes tracks like “Building a Mystery” and “Angel,” the latter of which achieved meteoric success in commercials with the ASPCA. The POPS, under the direction of maestro Sean O’Loughlin, will perform some of Sarah’s signature hits, including, “Building a Mystery,” “Adia,” “I Will Remember You,” and “Angel.”

A Night at the Opera House: The Music of Queen

In an exciting new expansion of its POPS Rocks brand, The Philly POPS announces A Night at the Opera House: The Music of Queen, a one-night-only performance, November 30, 2019, at The Met Philly. 

This performance will bring the legendary songs of Queen to the Philadelphia Metropolitan Opera House’s incredible stage, and in blending the genres of rock and opera, the show pays homage to the transformation of the Met itself—a once-opera house turned to a Live Nation venue.  

A Philly POPS Uptown Christmas

Philly's favorite holiday tradition jump starts the season with an exciting new twist!  This year, the POPS makes its Christmas debut at The Met Philadelphia with A Philly POPS Uptown Christmas. These two special performances will star Tituss Burgess of Little Mermaid and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt fame, last year's beloved Hamilton star Mandy Gonzalez, and hometown Latin pop star Luis Figueroa.  Conducted by Principal Guest Conductor David Charles Abell, the performance will also feature another POPS fan-favorite — The African Episcopal Church of St. Thomas Gospel Choir.
