Philadelphia, PA (November 30, 2020) — The Philly POPS has announced today the official addition of four new members to The Philly POPS’ board of directors: Dr. Rollo Dilworth of Temple University’s Boyer College of Music and Dance, Jim Dever of Bank of America, Robert “Bobby” Donio of Frank Donio, Inc., and Dino Petrongolo of A.P. Construction.
The board of directors has evolved extensively since it was rebuilt by POPS President and CEO Frank Giordano following his appointment in 2013. Today, with the addition of these four leading Philadelphians, the POPS board has reached 32 members.
“I’m pleased to welcome these four influential figures to The Philly POPS’ board of directors,” said Joan Carter, Chair of the POPS’ board of directors Nominating and Governance Committee. “The POPS is a central part of Philadelphia’s cultural landscape, and these new board members will help drive the POPS into the future in every way, during a time when innovation is key for arts organizations.”
One of these board members, Dr. Rollo Dilworth, already has close ties to the POPS through his position and work in music education as Vice Dean and Professor at Temple University’s Boyer College of Music. Temple University is an important partner in the POPS’ POPS in Schools program, which provides supplemental music education to students in the School District of Philadelphia. While educating School District students, POPS in Schools and Temple University also provide professional development for Temple music education students. In the program at the Isaac Sheppard School in Kensington, 40-year School District teacher Diane Dannenfelser mentors and teaches Temple students through classroom management and engagement—skills that are best learned by working directly with students. With his appointment, Dr. Rollo Dilworth joins another Temple University educator, POPS Artistic Director for Jazz Terell Stafford, in helping grow POPS in Schools to serve even more students throughout the School District of Philadelphia.
Additionally, Bank of America has been a sponsor of the POPS for several years. The appointment of Jim Dever will strengthen the relationship even further. This sponsorship has been integral in the presentation of the POPS’ trademark Comcast NBCUniversal Salute Series, which honors members of the service community with free performances reaching hundreds of thousands of people in the Philadelphia area.
Along with this announcement comes the retirement of a longtime board member, Barry Magarick, formerly of Magarick Advertising. The board has passed a resolution, thanking Barry for his time and service on the POPS’ board.

Over 200 of Dilworth’s choral compositions and arrangements have been published, and many are part of the Henry Leck Creating Artistry Choral Series with the Hal Leonard Corporation. In 2015 Dilworth launched his own choral series with Hal Leonard, focusing on secondary and tertiary level repertoire representing composers and arrangers from diverse backgrounds. He is also an established author and contributor for the Essential Elements for Choir and the Experiencing Choral Music textbook series. He has authored 3 books of choral warm up exercises intended for elementary and secondary choral ensembles, entitled Choir Builders: Fundamental Vocal Techniques for General and Classroom Use (2006); Choir Builders for Growing Voices (2009); Choir Builders for Growing Voices 2 (2014); and Music of Our Roots (2016). Dilworth is an active clinician and frequent guest conductor of all-state, honors, festival, community, church and professional choirs.
Dilworth has conducted 57 all-state choirs ranging across various levels, 6 regional honor choirs, and 5 national honor choirs. He serves on the national boards of Chorus America and the National Collegiate Choral Organization (NCCO); he is an active life member of the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA). He also holds memberships with several other organizations, including the National Association for Music Education (NAfME), the National Association of Negro Musicians (NANM) and the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP).
About Jim Dever, Greater Philadelphia Market President; Market Executive, Global Commercial Banking, Bank of America
As Market President, Jim is Bank of America’s leader in the Greater Philadelphia market. In this role, Jim is responsible for connecting businesses, families and individuals to the banking and investment teams that help them improve their financial lives. He also leads the work to deploy Bank of America’s resources in the region to help address social and economic concerns and build strong communities.
In addition to being Market President, Jim is Global Commercial Banking (GCB) Market Executive for Pennsylvania, Southern New Jersey and Delaware. In this role, Jim oversees the Middle Market Banking team that provides a full range of banking solutions to companies throughout the region with annual revenues of $50 million to $2 billion. Previously, Jim was GCB Market Executive for the New York City metro market. During his 25‐years with Bank of America, he has served in a number of senior leadership positions in GCB and Global Corporate & Investment Banking.
Most recently, Jim was the head of Financial Institutions Corporate Banking (Americas) within the Global Corporate and Investment Banking Group. Jim was responsible for a team of seasoned bankers who had coverage responsibilities for clients within the insurance, asset management, depository, specialty finance, broker‐dealer, financial technology, hedge fund and financial sponsor sectors. Jim was responsible for delivering the entire enterprise, inclusive of close strategic coordination with Investment Banking and Capital Markets, together with Credit, Syndications, Treasury Services, Leasing, Global Markets and Wealth Management. Jim was a member of the Americas Executive Committee which oversaw the deployment and execution of firm wide banking strategy. Prior to joining Bank of America, Jim worked in capital markets and corporate treasury at leading financial institutions in the Northeast.
Devoting time to many civic and charitable organizations, he serves on the boards of directors for the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce, CEO Council for Growth, MANNA’s Advisory Board, Philadelphia Alliance for Capital and Technologies (PACT) and is Chairman of the Museum of the American Revolution’s Corporate Advisory Council.
Jim earned his B.S. in Accounting from St. Joseph's University where he met his wife of 35 years. They reside in the Philadelphia area.

Donio Foundation for Education, an educational foundation named in memory of his father, which to date has provided over $500,000 in direct educational scholarships and programing to students from Hammonton High School, St. Joseph’s High School, and Atlantic Cape Community College.
A father of four girls, Bobby lives in both Olde City Philadelphia, and Stone Harbor, New Jersey. When he’s not working or spending time with his daughters, Bobby can be found surfing in Stone Harbor, or playing golf at Union League National Golf Club or Hidden Creek Golf Club.

Dino Petrongolo is a partner of A.P. Construction, Inc., a fourth generation heavy-highway contractor located in Philadelphia, PA and Blackwood, NJ. Dino is a member of the Union League of Philadelphia, and former president/current member of Unico, Greater Philadelphia Chapter. He serves on the board of directors for the March of Dimes – Transportation, Building and Construction - Philadelphia Chapter, and the National Italian American Foundation (NIAF) in Washington, DC.
Dino received a BS in Civil Engineering Technology from Spring Garden College and resides in Hammonton, NJ with his wife Tracy. They have two children, Grace and Dino II, both of whom attend Drexel University in Philadelphia.
