The Philly POPS will kick off the social season with the Third Annual POPS Ball. The energized evening of dinner and dancing, themed Let’s Swing, transforms the Bellevue ballroom into a glamorous supper club.
The full Philly POPS 65-piece orchestra, conducted by Maestro Michael Krajewski, featuring acclaimed singer and bandleader Michael Andrew, will perform two dance sets. Ball-goers will be delighted by beloved songs from the last century of American music, including such favorites as Come Fly With Me, Let’s Dance, Can’t Help Falling in Love and As Time Goes By.
Pennsylvania Lieutenant Governor Mike Stack and Mrs. Tonya Stack serve as Honorary Chairs of the 2015 POPS Ball.
Tickets for this fundraising event start at $1,000 per couple. “Young Friends” tickets are available for $250 for guests aged 39 years and younger. The Young Friends ticket includes exclusive seating in the new Young Friends section and special gift. All tickets come with donor recognition in POPS materials.
Who
Michael Andrew, singer, composer, entertainer and actor, has been performing songs from the Great American Songbook since he was a young boy. Andrew entertained audiences nightly and hosted a live radio broadcast as the headline singer and bandleader at the world-famous Rainbow Room atop Rockefeller Center in New York City. He was also the bandleader and singer at Merv Griffin’s Coconut Club in California’s Beverly Hilton. Griffin called him “One of the great singers of all time.”
Singing in the style and tradition of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Bobby Darin, and Sammy Davis Jr., he has performed at Presidential Inaugural Balls, alongside symphony orchestras, and at festivals and concerts coast to coast.
Andrew will be the special guest artist at the POPS 2015/16 season opening concert series, Sinatra: A Centennial Celebration.
