A Message from Frank Giordano, President

Hello!

It’s my tenth year with The Philly POPS. As I look ahead, it’s a time of reflection and enthusiasm.

For our Bright Lights! Big City! Season, we begin with our final 50th Anniversary of a Beatles album—Let It Be, with a bit of the one album we haven’t covered, Revolver. This year’s performance is focused on the Philly POPS orchestra and these magnificent tunes that changed the landscape of rock forever.

We’re back with new Star Wars music in October and a full concert with the infectious Stuart Chafetz. Break out your Storm Trooper wear and Baby Yoda garb for the big show!

Christmas is our season to be jolly. Megastars Mandy Gonzalez and David Charles Abell are back for another season with the debut of pianist Charlie Albright! With our three choirs and Singing Santa, it’s 300 performers and the best holiday celebration you can find in the city.

Native Philadelphian, and Broadway’s most fabulous Phantom, Hugh Panaro comes home for January’s Modern Broadway extravaganza—the music of Andrew Lloyd Webber and more. February brings a legacy show which features our orchestra swinging as only the POPS can swing—with the music of the three divas of the era—Ella, Billie, and Dinah. Terell Stafford conducts and brings his unforgettable trumpet to enhance the show!

Michael Cavanaugh is back for a March singer/songwriter show—James Taylor, Paul Simon, and Billy Joel—rocking out these signature talents as only he can do!

April’s Broadway SHOWSTOPPERS! series is a tribute to Jerry Herman and his legacy of Hello, Dolly!, La Cage aux Folles, and more.

The season closes in May with the homecoming of Michael Krajewski and the music of the Moody Blues with GO NOW!—orchestral rock at its absolute best!

I’m already looking forward to each of these shows; I cannot wait to see you at the POPS!
