Communications and PR Associate/Manager

Summary:

Working with the VP and Eastern Standard, the marketing agency for The Philly POPS, the Communications and PR Associate/Manager will manage press relations, social media, and releases, as well as media promotions/events for The Philly POPS. These activities closely align with the development and implementation of marketing, overall branding, fundraising, and education activities. The scope of work includes measuring and monitoring the alignment of messaging across the various media platforms, including phillypops.org and social media activities.

Essential Functions:

GENERAL

Working with the VP of Strategy and Business Development, set overall communications strategies, priorities, goals, and outcomes. Assist in developing an annual plan, setting out objectives, and specific activities to be pursued in each area of responsibility.
Working with the VP, ensure consistent and ongoing delivery of The Philly POPS brand and message.
Provide the primary editorial writing for the POPS’ branding needs.
Develop and maintain strong, productive, and collaborative relationships with other departments, consultants, and partners.
Serve as liaison for implementation of communications efforts with Eastern Standard.
Collaborate in ongoing analysis and research on the performance of the communications plan.
Track earned media and supervise the tracking of social media impressions.

MESSAGING

Maintain press room and NEWS sections of phillypops.org.
Implement key social media messaging.
Assemble monthly newsletter.
Collaborate on the alignment of messaging on the website and immediacy of updates to electronic media.
Manage POPS Social Media Editorial Calendar while collaborating with POPS teams to ensure proper messaging for all departments.
Responsible for proofreading all POPS print materials, in alignment with the POPS Style Guide.

COMMUNICATIONS

Coordinate with the VP and the COO in identifying, developing, implementing, and evaluating earned media strategies across all traditional media as well as social media. This area will include but not be limited to:

Business publication coverage of the successes of the new POPS with its new economic model.
Placement of ongoing POPS successes in local media with one major, overall story per year as well as ongoing support coverage.
Coverage of education and engagement activities in support of grants and gifts.

Evaluation of research on the new POPS brand both internally and externally.
Provide SEO support for website and social content.

PUBLIC RELATIONS

Collaborate on implementation of the Season Announcement Press Event and supporting communications needs.
Support for or implementation of at least one press event with impact for each concert series.
Ongoing public relations support of the Salute Series and Salute Christmas, including the Christmas in July annual Press event.
Deliver monthly coverage of engagement activities – education programs, community events, etc.
Maintenance of all communications plans and budgets.

Other duties are from time to time assigned

Routine for an office environment. This position will be required to perform some essential functions of the job during evening and weekend hours.
