The Philly POPS continues its 41-year Independence tradition with a streamed  performance of POPS on Independence. The 38-piece Philly POPS BIG Band + Strings will perform an original program created and conducted by Music Director and Principal Conductor David Charles Abell, in his debut as Music Director. The program will feature Broadway star Allison Blackwell, a Philly native and inaugural member of the Temple Children’s Choir, POPS Artistic Director for Jazz Terell Stafford, POPS fan-favorite Michael Cavanaugh, and a virtual Philly POPS Festival Chorus.

The Philly POPS BIG Band returns to the Benjamin Franklin Parkway for a third year running—in its biggest performance yet. The Philly POPS BIG Band + Strings will play under the direction of Music Director Todd Ellison, alongside Academy and Grammy Award-winning international superstar Jennifer Hudson.

Music Director Todd Ellison and The Philly POPS BIG Band return to Independence Hall for the POPS at the Celebration of Freedom. The performance will begin at 10 a.m., followed by the annual July 4 Parade, routing from Independence Mall to Penn's Landing.

With the stunning backdrop of Independence Hall, Music Director Todd Ellison will conduct the POPS in a patriotic show, mixing Great American Songbook classics with today’s popular music. POPS on Independence has become a Philadelphia tradition, enjoyed by 15,000 locals and visitors each year. 

The POPS will be joined by Disney Broadway sensation Susan Egan. Susan played Belle in the original Broadway production of Beauty and the Beast (for which she received Tony and Drama Desk Award nominations), was the voice of Megara in the movie Hercules, has appeared in many hit TV shows, and has released seven solo albums. POPS fans will remember Susan’s powerful, energetic performance in 2018’s Best of Broadway concert series.

The Philly POPS presents the fourth annual Comcast NBCUniversal Memorial Salute at the Mann, a community concert honoring the American tradition of service on Saturday, May 25 at 7pm over Memorial Day weekend featuring conductor Todd Ellison, the Voices of the POPS, the Philly POPS Festival Chorus, and more! 

Tony and Grammy winner, R&B hitmaker, and international singing sensation Heather Headley joins The Philly POPS BIG Band BIG Band and guest vocalists Viva Mas, during the Wawa Welcome America! July 4th Concert on the Parkway!

On opening night of the 2017 A Philly POPS Christmas concert series, we will proudly welcome an audience filled with dedicated local members of the military and first responders for our 3rd annual Comcast NBCUniversal I'll Be Home for Christmas – A Salute to the Military and First Responders benefit concert. Individual tickets for this event are not available for purchase.

The Philly POPS BIG Band will open the Wawa Welcome America July 4th Concert! As the act that performed at the first July 4 concert on the Parkway in 1993, the return of the POPS helps mark the 25th anniversary of Wawa Welcome America.
